TRANSPYRENEES 2020 Documentary

In a year largely influenced by COVID-19, the second edition of the Transpyrenees took place as planned and was regarded as a great success. The organization was put to the test but moved quickly and efficiently to adapt to new health measures and guarantee the safety of all riders.

As a promoter of adventure cycling and endurance racing, IXCOR was along for the journey again this year, ready to enjoy another edition of the vigorous competition across the beautiful mountain landscape.

The 2020 route, somewhat more difficult than the 2019 edition, was made up of 40 mountain pass. In addition to the more famous Cols such as Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Aubisque and Pailhères, there were also some other less known, but nonetheless spectacular, locations that can be seen throughout the documentary.

The event was made up of 87 riders from 18 different countries. Together, they set out on an adventure of 1020km of authentic bikepacking adventure across some of the most difficult passes along the Pyrenees.

The first rider to cross the finish line was the Spaniard Oier Iturralde, after 67 hours of competition.
Another ultra-cyclist who stood out was Alina Kilian from Poland. She needed just 102 hours to finish 18th in the general as the only female participant.

The Transpyrenees is regarded as one of the toughest tests in modern day ultra-cycling with 27.000m climb (3x Everesting). The test was completed by a total of 31 racers in the individual category and 14 in the pairs category.
